Visit To The Community : Monk Ceremony Preparation

A morning in the community was just what we needed to learn more about the Thai Culture!
We were taken into a village that was preparing for 4 young men to be ordained as Monks the next day! This is a very important and huge ceremony here in Mahasarakam.
The men and women standing with us are volunteers, all apart of the community, excited and eager to help prepare for this ceremony. Dr Choochat, on the right standing, was our translator and teacher about the traditions and beliefs during our visit today.
The men and women in the community were beyond welcoming and eager to teach us the traditions, the set up of the ceremony, and how to make certain foods for the parade.
Us students felt proud and honoured to partake in making desserts for the parade the following day. We felt very welcomed today from the whole community, and had an amazing time on our short but sweet visit!
