Teaching Day in Clinic A

Today we all had the opportunity to teach children ages 6-12 our lesson plans that we prepared in Canada. We taught hand hygiene, dental hygiene, as well as road safety. It was such a treat to have such amazing children to teach!

The children came from a community school nearby, the head teacher joined as well. All the children had a basic knowledge of each topic, they knew what to do for each topic, however, the biggest issue raised by children was resources. Another challenge we were lucky to overcome was the language barrier. Some children knew basic English, as some of us students know some Thai words and phrases to say. We luckily had a translator at each learning station for things to run smoother!

We were excited to give gifts the students. We brought from Canada tooth brushes, hand sanitizer, crayons, colouring pages, safety vests, and some goodies to take back to their school.

The children and teachers were extremely grateful to have this event to attend, as we’re we. It was a great experience to evaluate how much knowledge of these topics the children knew!
